Compare thickness, joints, back panels, hardware, stated loads, repair parts, and warranty. A strong material connected poorly can still fail.
For regulated composite wood, look for applicable TSCA Title VI compliance information described by EPA. This does not rank overall furniture quality or eliminate the need for ventilation and product-specific evaluation.
Calculate delivered, assembled cost and likely repair or moving expense. Inspect care instructions before choosing a finish that will receive concentrated daily use.
